25 July 1978 - the birth of GfA-Gesellschaft für Abdichtungstechnik mbH. Whilst sales and accounting are managed from Hamburg, the production of window and door seals is running in the historic Osram building in Berlin. We revolutionise the market with foamed soft sealing profiles made of highly modified elastic PVC.
Cutting and welding equipment and other tools for the precise installation of sealing profiles and the assembly of sealing frames - we produce what the fabricators need! Demand increases and the first "subsidiary" is founded: GfA-Gerätebau Joachim Hagemeier GmbH.
Seals are consumables. But because old building elements cannot be fitted with standard replacement profiles, we focus on the economical production of manageable quantities for special applications on old windows and doors: we found GfA-Dichtungen für Altbauten und Systeme Joachim Hagemeier GmbH.
GfA moves to Seevetal/Meckelfeld. New location, new material: With TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), we are meeting the demand for raw materials that do not react with the recently introduced water-dilutable acrylic resin-based coating systems.
Production of silicone rubber seals starts in time for the considerable need to renovate old windows and doors in the new federal states. At the current site in Marxen near Hamburg, we find sufficient storage capacity for the significantly expanded sealing programme.
Berlin has become the capital - but we are finally making Marxen the centre of our fortunes: the relocation of production to the newly built halls is taking place step by step during ongoing operations. A logistical masterpiece for man and machine!
Under the slogan "GfA - the customised tailor for sealing profiles", we are expanding the diversity of our range and consequently also the production area. Modern two-storey systems, roller storage racks ... this is how we utilise the space even more efficiently and in a more contemporary way.
Always at the cutting edge of technology, we are now producing moulded corners with a horizontal injection moulding machine. And are setting the course for further innovations in machinery and production technology with an extensive investment programme.
The anti-expansion thread made by GfA is revolutionising the market for renovation seals. In total, our in-house range has grown to more than 5,000 different sealing profiles for all construction and non-construction applications; customisation is part of our trade. Nothing new: once again we are growing!
We modernise the appearance of the GfA Group with a new corporate design.
More productivity, more quality - thanks to refurbished machine technology, replaced extrusion lines and new 3D printers. By designing special tools, we can also realise unusual geometries in the shortest possible time. Sustainability always taken into account: we rely on combined heat and power plants, photovoltaics and water recycling.
We are celebrating 40 years of eventful company history full of innovation - and growth: GfA is now also represented south of the hemisphere with GfA-SealSystems PTY LTD in Cape Town, South Africa. The production and administration buildings in Marxen are modernised.
A new addition to the GfA family: the new subsidiary GfA-SiliTech GmbH is launched. The focus is on the "all-rounder" silicone rubber, which scores highly in terms of temperature and weather resistance.
We continue to operate on the international stage with GfA-SealSystems West B.V., which ensures the highest sealing quality in the Benelux countries and France. And we are forging new sales partnerships, e.g. in Switzerland and Croatia.
Dual leadership, double strength: Managing Directors Lars Hagemeier and Nico Czok are working together to make the family business fit for the future. The new GfA trade fair stand makes its grand entrance at Fensterbau Frontale. The GfA-SealSystems Scandic team is now in action for customers from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Full power to digital thanks to new software - a merchandise management system that can do much more! - and a new website.
